The area formula is 3 times the square root of 3 divided by 2, multiplied by side squared. A regular hexagon can also be split into six equilateral-triangle-like regions, which helps verify the scale and the relationship between side and apothem. Use it for a regular tile, bolt head outline, honeycomb cell, or classroom geometry problem when the equal-side assumption is justified. The apothem is the center-to-side perpendicular distance, while the circumradius is the center-to-vertex distance; for a regular hexagon the side and circumradius happen to be equal. Keep perimeter in linear units and area in square units. An irregular hexagon, a concave outline, or a shape with cutouts needs a vertex-based or decomposed area calculation. The calculator does not add grout, trim, thickness, bevels, or manufacturing waste. If the side length is measured from a real object, check several sides before using the regular result to order material or judge fit.
