How to use the Hourly Wage Calculator
Last reviewed September 14, 2026
What this calculator does
The engine first converts the entered pay amount from the selected period to an hourly rate.
Formula and method
The engine first converts the entered pay amount from the selected period to an hourly rate. Daily pay is divided by hours per week/5, weekly pay by hours per week, biweekly pay by hours per week x 2, monthly pay by hours per week x 52/12, and annual pay by hours per week x 52. It then derives the other displayed periods from that hourly rate.
Variables and inputs
Enter Amount, choose Hourly, Daily, Weekly, Bi-weekly, Monthly, or Annual, and enter Hours/Week. The UI accepts one to 80 hours per week. The output is gross pay equivalents and uses a 52-week year, five workdays per week for daily pay, and 12 months per year.
Worked example
For $25 per hour and 40 hours per week, daily equivalent is 25 x 40/5 = $200, weekly is $1,000, biweekly is $2,000, monthly is 25 x 40 x 52/12 = $4,333.33, and annual is 25 x 40 x 52 = $52,000.
How to interpret the result
The table translates one pay amount into comparable gross-pay periods under the route's calendar assumptions. It is useful for comparing offers, but the same headline annual amount can represent different paid time, overtime rules, benefits, or unpaid leave.
Common mistakes to avoid
Choose the period that matches the amount entered, and enter regular hours rather than annual overtime hours unless that is the comparison you intend. Do not treat monthly pay as four weeks or daily pay as a universal eight-hour day when the work schedule differs.
Assumptions and limitations
The engine assumes 52 weeks, five days per week for daily conversion, and no unpaid time, holidays, overtime, bonuses, commissions, benefits, payroll taxes, or deductions. It does not calculate take-home pay or account for a pay period's actual number of calendar days.
