What this calculator does
The engine interprets each option's input as an hourly rate, multiplies it by hoursPerWeek x weeksPerYear to form annual pay, and then divides that annual value into fixed monthly, biweekly, weekly, daily, and hourly equivalents.

The engine interprets each option's input as an hourly rate, multiplies it by hoursPerWeek x weeksPerYear to form annual pay, and then divides that annual value into fixed monthly, biweekly, weekly, daily, and hourly equivalents. It compares the two computed annual amounts and reports the absolute difference.
Variables and inputs
Enter Option A and B hourly rates, each option's hours per week, and weeks per year. The UI labels the rate fields as hourly. The breakdown always uses 12 months, 26 biweekly periods, 52 weeks, 260 days, and 2,080 hours for display conversions.
Worked example
For Option A at $25/hour and Option B at $30/hour, both working 40 hours for 52 weeks, A annualizes to $25 x 40 x 52 = $52,000 and B to $62,400. B wins by $10,400 per year; the table shows $25 and $30 as the corresponding hourly equivalents.
How to interpret the result
The comparison is a gross cash-pay comparison after normalizing the entered hourly rate and work schedule. A higher annualized amount is not automatically the better offer when benefits, unpaid time, commute, schedule, stability, or work intensity differ.
Common mistakes to avoid
Enter an hourly rate rather than an annual salary. Use paid or actually worked weeks consistently for both offers. Do not compare the annualized result with a salary offer without accounting for different hours, unpaid leave, bonuses, or benefits.
Assumptions and limitations
The engine does not model taxes, overtime, paid time off, holidays, bonuses, insurance, retirement matching, equity, inflation, or commuting costs. Its daily display is annual pay divided by 260 regardless of the entered weeks and hours, and nonpositive schedules are not validated in the pure engine.
