Formula and method
The engine treats weight values as mass and normalizes them to grams. It uses 1 mg = 0.001 g, 1 kg = 1,000 g, 1 oz = 28.3495 g, 1 lb = 453.592 g, 1 stone = 6,350.29 g, and 1 short ton = 907,185 g, then divides by the destination factor.

Enter a numeric value and choose mg, g, kg, oz, lb, st, or ton. The page converts from the one selected source unit to all seven units, formats values to eight significant digits, and does not collect gravitational acceleration or distinguish regional ton definitions.
Worked example
For 1 kg, the base value is 1,000 g. The engine returns 1,000,000 mg, about 2.204624 lb, about 0.157473 stone, and about 0.00110231 short ton using its configured factors.
How to interpret the result
The calculator is fundamentally a mass conversion even though the page calls it weight. In physics, weight is a force that depends on gravity; in everyday commerce, weight often means mass. The result does not change with location or local gravitational acceleration.
Common mistakes to avoid
Do not confuse kg with kgf, and do not assume `ton` means metric tonne, long ton, or short ton without checking. Do not use ounces by weight as fluid ounces, and retain enough digits when the value feeds a density or force calculation.
Assumptions and limitations
The engine uses rounded customary factors and its ton factor is the US short ton. It does not model local gravity, mass measurement uncertainty, packaging tare, or a legal trade-unit convention. Numeric input is not range-checked, and eight-significant-digit output is display-limited.
